Synopsis/Details

Khatia Buniatishvili | Piano Recital

Passion at the Keys

Few pianists combine temperament and tenderness as naturally as Khatia Buniatishvili. The Georgian-French musician captivates audiences with a unique combination of expressive virtuosity and profound emotional depth. Her lyrical, luminous tone and virtually limitless dynamic range make her a truly exceptional presence on international concert stages. Critics praise her dazzling stage presence and her ability to forge a connection with every single listener through her music.

For Buniatishvili, music is always a personal journey of discovery: “We serve the music and the composers, but as intermediaries between them and the audience, we also reveal our own emotions. This makes us vulnerable, but it creates a deeper, human connection,” the pianist said in an interview with BR-Klassik.

At her piano recital at the Philharmonie, the artist presents a multifaceted programme that allows her full range of expressive powers to unfold. A concert experience that touches the heart and reveals the vibrant power of piano playing.

Venue
Berliner Philharmonie

The Berliner Philharmonie is a concert hall in Berlin, Germany. Home to the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the building is acclaimed for both its acoustics and its architecture.

The Philharmonie lies on the south edge of the city's Tiergarten and just west of the former Berlin Wall, an area that for decades suffered from isolation and drabness but that today offers ideal centrality, greenness, and accessibility. Its cross street and postal address is Herbert-von-Karajan-Straße, named for the orchestra's longest-serving principal conductor. The neighborhood, often dubbed the Kulturforum, can be reached on foot from the Potsdamer Platz station.

Actually a two-venue facility with connecting lobby, the Philharmonie comprises a Großer Saal of 2,440 seats for orchestral concerts and a chamber-music hall, the Kammermusiksaal, of 1,180 seats. Though conceived together, the smaller venue was added only in the 1980s.
