Mercedes-Benz Arena is a multi-use indoor arena in the Friedrichshain neighborhood of Berlin, Germany, that opened in September 2008. Developed by Anschutz Entertainment Group, it was named O2 World, when O2 Germany purchased the naming rights. With a capacity of 17,000 people, it is home to the Eisbären Berlin ice hockey club and the ALBA Berlin basketball team, and is used for other ice hockey, basketball and handball matches as well as concerts. The surrounding area will be filled with various entertainment venues including a cinema, a casino, a hotel and various bars and restaurants.

 

Since its grand opening in September 2008, o2 World has established itself as one of the most successful multi-purpose arena in the world in Berlin and changed the entertainment landscape in the German capital. The o2 World Berlin has become the stage for sport and entertainment. With a capacity of up to 17,000 visitors, incl. 1,000 seats in the premium area, suites, restaurants, clubs, hospitality areas and a full range of modern comforts, the o2 World is a must-play venue. Each year, around 1.3 million visitors flock to an average of 130 events including concerts of Metallica, Coldplay, Paul McCartney, Barbara Streisand, Tina Turner, Justin Timberlake, The Black Eyed Peas, Madonna, Rammstein, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Depeche Mode, highlight Events like the MTV European Music Awards and the German music award ECHO as well as sports highlights such as the boxing matches of Vitali Klitschko and Arthur Abraham, the Euro League Basketball Final, the NHL and NBA games and the two anchor tenants Berlin Polar Bears and ALBA Berlin. The more than 1,400-square-foot LED facade of the o2 World is one of the largest outdoor installations in the world. Also inside the arena stands by the latest technology and architecture, which assures optimal sound and best line of sight and the interior lends a certain intimacy in spite of its capacity. The combination of transport links by ICE, regional rail and public transport makes the o2 World Berlin and for visitors from outside of easy reach.

 

Getting there 

 

By Car

If you travel by car we advise you to drive towards "Alexanderplatz” and then follow the signs to the O2 World.

Please note that the arena is located in Berlin's green zone. Therefore you will need the green environmental badge on your car.

 

Parking at the Mercedes-Benz Arena

Parking spaces for cars are available in the O2 World parking deck as well as parking area P2. The parking deck is located west of the arena, between Marianne-von-Rantzau and Mildred-Harnack-Straße. 

Parking deck access "B" is accessible via Marianne-von-Rantzau-Straße, the fee is 7 EUR per event.

Parking deck access "A" is reserved for our Suite-holder guests, Premium guests of the Eisbären Berlin and ALBA BERLIN, and the Premium guests of all other events at the O2 World. It is not possible to use parking deck entrance "A" and the reserved parking spots without a valid Premium parking ticket.

Parking area P2 continues to be accessible through Tamara-Danz-Straße. The fee is 7 EUR per event and will be collected at the gateway.

If you intend to arrive by car, we recommend arriving early.

Parking for the disabled is available on P2 (access via Tamara-Danz-Straße) and the parking deck B (access via Marianne-von-Rantzau-Straße). Guests with a degree of disability of 70% or more and vehicles for disabled with the blue certificate are free of charge. All other guests will be charged 7 EUR. Please have your certificate of disability at hand.

By Bus, Train, Boat

Station Warschauer Straße 

The city train (S-Bahn) lines S3, S5, S7, S75 and S9 all stop at "Warschauer Straße" station, as well as the subway line U1, bus numbers 347 and N1 and tramway lines M10 and M13. The station is connected to the O2 World by a pedestrian bridge. 

East Central Station (Ostbahnhof) 

The O2 World is located in the immediate vicinity of East Central Station. For your convenience it may be advisable to take the city train (S-Bahn) lines S3, S7, S5, S75 and S9 or bus number 140, 240, 347 or N40. There is a walkway leading from East Central Station to the O2 World. Please follow the signs. Furthermore, East Central Station is connected to the regional (Regional Express RE1, RE2, RE7, RB14) and nationwide rail transport, as well as to the ICE high speed train network, to provide a fast and convenient journey from supra-regional places. 

By Boat

The pier of Mercedes-Benz Arena is currently only used by ocean carrier Riedel.
