Scenes from a Marriage – Because every day is a little adventure.
“Men and women just don’t go together...” – and yet they have to get along every day. When the breakfast egg has been boiled too long in the morning and opinions about how to spend the evening diverge, things can get tense. It is precisely this that Loriot captured so perfectly in his legendary Scenes from a Marriage, published in 1983. His sensitivity to human relationships and the comedy of everyday communication reveal Loriot as a keen observer of the all-too-human comedies of life.
As a tribute to the great master of humor, Senta Berger and Friedrich von Thun, two leading figures of stage and film, join forces to bring these scenes to life with warmth and laughter. Together—and sometimes against each other—they struggle with the stumbling blocks that everyday life places in their path, and of course with the insurmountable quirks of coupledom. For as Loriot once said:
A happy marriage is one in which she is a little blind and he is a little deaf.
